Families in Salisbury are invited to step into the much-loved worlds of Winnie-the-Pooh and Paddington Bear this Friday 28 August, as The Rocketship Bookshop hosts a special storytime event as part of the Salisbury History Festival 2026.
The event will celebrate 100 years since Winnie-the-Pooh was first published, alongside the centenary of the birth of Paddington’s creator, Michael Bond.
Storytime sessions will take place at 11am, 11.30am, 12pm, 12.30pm and 1pm, with no advance booking required. Families can simply turn up at their chosen time and enjoy the stories together.
There will also be a special best-dressed teddy bear competition. Children are invited to bring along their favourite teddy dressed up for the occasion, with each entry photographed at the bookshop before being judged by Mayor Jenny Bolwell.
The winning teddy and prize will be announced at 2pm at the Paddington statue on Fisherton Street, giving families another opportunity to explore Salisbury as part of the day’s celebrations
