Here at Cross Keys , we’re proud to be home to a growing number of independent businesses that truly care about our community, and New Support Care is one of those shining examples. Nestled among our local gems, this independent care company is doing things differently, putting people before profit and compassion at the heart of everything they do.

Founded by former army serviceman Nyame Ayeh Assuon – popularly known as Sony, New Support Care started with a simple act of kindness. Sony saw first-hand how friends who had been injured during service were being let down by inconsistent care. They would often mention how their carers were late or didn’t fully understand their needs. For Sony, who had already been offering informal support to a friend after a stroke, it became clear there was a real gap in the care system and an opportunity to make a difference. What began as unpaid support for a friend in need quickly evolved into something more, and with that same sense of duty and dedication, New Support Care was born.
Tailored Care That Puts People First
What sets New Support Care apart is their truly personalised approach. Every care plan is tailored to the individual with no generic solutions or one-size-fits-all approaches. Whether someone needs live-in care, overnight assistance, visiting care, or palliative support, the focus is always on meeting the unique needs of the person.
And it doesn’t stop there. The team also offers deep cleaning and domestic services, including one-off cleans, end-of-tenancy refreshes, and ongoing fortnightly cleaning. For some clients these services are life-changing, helping them feel comfortable, confident, and at peace in their own homes.
What really makes New Support Care shine is their core values: professionalism, compassion, friendliness, and reliability. The team doesn’t just show up; they go above and beyond. In one recent case, a client who planned to transfer to another provider found that no one matched Sony’s standard of care, and despite their notice period ending, Sony continues to care for them, simply because it’s the right thing to do.
Culturally Sensitive and Community Driven
One of the many strengths of New Support Care is their ability to connect with clients on a cultural level. One local elderly gentleman from Ghana struggled to connect with previous carers due to a language barrier. Sony was able to step in, speak his native language, and completely transform the man’s emotional wellbeing through better communication and understanding. It’s something that’s often overlooked in larger care services but for Sony, it’s essential. “Elderly people shouldn’t have to compromise on communication,” he says. “It affects their wellbeing, their dignity, and their day-to-day happiness.”
Clients of New Support Care are typically older individuals from across Salisbury, and almost all of them come through personal recommendations. A powerful indicator of the trust the community places in them.

Looking After the Team Behind the Care
The care team at New Support Care is handpicked, not just for their skills but for their energy, empathy, and communication skills. All carers receive full training, from Health and Safety to First Aid, Safeguarding, Medication, Mental Capacity, and specialist courses like PEG feeding and catheter care. Regular refresher courses ensure the highest standard of care is always maintained.
From visiting clients at home to covering shifts in nursing facilities, no two days are the same for this dedicated team and yes, Sony still does care visits himself!
Big Dreams for Local Impact
In the near future, Sony hopes to expand into supported living, with a dedicated property to help individuals who can’t manage admin tasks or have been affected by homelessness. But for now, his focus remains on providing the best possible care, right here in Salisbury.
We’re proud to have New Support Care as part of our Cross Keys family. Their work is a true reflection of what makes local business so valuable and shows a commitment to people, a love for community, and a desire to do good.
